Is Split PDF private?

Everything runs locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to StackPDF servers.

Do I need an account to use Split PDF?

No. StackPDF is free to use without signing up or creating an account.

Does Split PDF work offline?

After the page and libraries load, processing happens on your device. A connection is only needed to load the app the first time.

Can I split a PDF into individual pages?

Yes. Choose a per-page split to export every page as its own PDF, or define custom ranges (for example 1–3, 4–10) for multi-page extracts.

Is there a page or file limit when splitting?

There is no free-tier extract quota or upload paywall. Soft browser-safety limits on file size and page count protect the tab; within those, processing is local and free.

Do I keep the original when I split?

Yes. Split creates new files for download. Your original PDF stays on your device unless you delete it yourself.

Can I split password-protected PDFs?

Unlock the file first with Remove Password (if you know the password), then split. Encrypted files cannot be split until they open successfully.

What is fixed-chunk split?

Fixed chunks cut the document into equal-length pieces (for example every 2 or 10 pages). Useful for sharing long scans in smaller downloads without typing many custom ranges.

Does splitting re-encode or lower quality?

No. Pages are copied into new PDFs. Text stays selectable and images keep their quality — split does not rasterize the document.

Extract pages without uploading

Many online splitters require a full upload even when you only need pages 4–6 of a 200-page file. StackPDF reads the PDF in your browser, builds only the outputs you asked for, and never posts the document to our servers.

When multiple files are produced, a ZIP download keeps the set together so you are not saving dozens of files one click at a time.

When cloud split tools still help

Server pipelines that auto-slice inbound mail into a document management system still belong in the cloud. For interactive, one-person extract jobs, browser split is usually faster to trust: open, select, download.
