Everything runs locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to StackPDF servers.

Do I need an account to use Privacy Scanner?

Does Privacy Scanner work offline?

After the page and libraries load, processing happens on your device. A connection is only needed to load the app the first time.

What does Strip metadata remove?

It rebuilds the PDF without Info/XMP fields, annotations, forms, embedded files, bookmarks, and open actions. Visible text on the page (emails, phone numbers) is not changed — use Redact PDF for that.

Can it find everything private?

No. It checks common metadata, structural surfaces, and heuristic patterns in extractable text. Scanned image-only pages need OCR first. Hidden or obfuscated data may be missed.

What about password-protected PDFs?

Encrypted files are flagged. Unlock with Remove Password first for a full content scan and safe metadata stripping.
