Privacy Policy

StackPDF is built around a simple promise: your documents stay on your device. PDF tools run in your browser using client-side libraries. We do not operate a file upload pipeline for tool processing.

Files and processing

When you use a tool, selected files are read locally by your browser. Processing happens in memory on your computer. Download results are generated locally. We do not receive the contents of your PDFs or images for conversion.

Local storage on your device

To make working across tools convenient, two things are stored locally in your browser — never on a server:

• Recent jobs — A metadata-only list (file name, size, tool, time) kept in localStorage. File contents are never stored here.
• Hand-off files — When you send a result to another tool (“Use in…”), the file is held in memory and mirrored to IndexedDB so a page refresh doesn’t lose it. At most 12 files are kept; older ones are evicted automatically.

Third-party content in previews

Previews render your own documents locally. One exception: if your own Markdown or HTML content references remote URLs (for example embedded images), your browser fetches those URLs directly to display the preview. StackPDF itself makes no external requests with your documents.

StackPDF does not require an account to use tools.

Website analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to record page views, referrers, and device type. It uses a first-party cookie. Google advertising signals are off. Tool file contents are never sent.

Sister apps

StackImage is a separate Stack Tools site for photos. Files are not shared between StackPDF and StackImage — each origin keeps its own local data. Read StackImage’s privacy page.
